Voluntourismus - was ist das eigentlich und wem bringt dies was?

Befragt man Wikipedia, die freie Internet Enzyklopädie zum Thema Voluntourismus oder auch Volunteer Travel, so erhält man folgende Antwort:
"Volunteer travel, volunteer vacations or voluntourism is travel which includes volunteering for a charitable cause. In recent years, "bite-sized" volunteer vacations have grown in popularity. The types of volunteer vacations are diverse, from low-skill work cleaning up local wildlife areas to providing high-skill medical aid in a foreign country. Viele Personen möchten heute Volunteer Travel machen. Warum eigentlich? Was bringt es dem Teilnehmer?

Hier ist Eure Meinung gefragt. Ihr, die diese Seite lest, seid ja wahrscheinlich an solch einem Freiwilligeneinsatz im Ausland interessiert. Folglich kennt Ihr Eure Motivation daran am allerbesten und könnt diese gerne hier mitteilen.

Und umgekehrt: was bringt es eigentlich den den Projekt-Stellen, bei denen die Freiwilligen eingesetzt werden? Warum nehmen die ausländische Freiwillige auf? Was haben die davon? Was meint Ihr?
